IU And Her Fans Make A Generous Donation To Celebrate Her 10th Anniversary

Congratulations and thank you to IU and her fans!

Aside from treating her fans to a special fan meeting, South Korean singer-songwriter IU extended the celebration of her tenth anniversary as a singer to underprivileged children by making a generous donation with her fan club UAENA.

The singer-songwriter and her fans donated a total of 100 million won (US$88, 854) to the Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation. The donation will be generously used to fund the scholarships of children from low-income families, as well as to support disadvantaged people in the country.

This donation was not the first time that IU extended her help to the less fortunate. The singer-songwriter has a long history of philanthropic work. In 2015, she donated 100 million won to the organization. She continued this generous act with another donation amounting to 200 million won and five million won which will also benefit the elderly people living with hearing disabilities.

IU debuted in 2008 with her first single, “Lost Child”. Recognized as one of the top singers in South Korea, the singer-songwriter went on to release chart-topping songs including “Good Day”, “You & I”, “The Red Shoes”, “Through the Night”, and “Palette”. She also collaborated with top artists including Block B’s Zico, BIGBANG’s G-Dragon, EPIKHIGH, Sung Si Kyung, 2AM’s Seulong, and more.

Aside from forging a successful music career, IU also ventured into acting beginning in 2011 through Dream High as Kim Pil Suk. Her most recent drama was the critically acclaimed and high-rated tvN drama, My Mister.

In celebration of her decade-long career, the singer-songwriter will go on an Asia tour which will kick off in Busan on October 28. The tour will visit Hong Kong, Singapore, Bangkok, and Taipei.

Through the Asia tour titled dlwlrma, IU will perform at the Olympic Gymnastics Arena on November 17 and 18, making her the first female solo artist to do so following veteran singers Patti Kim, BMK, and Insooni.
