Sulli On Acting As A Lifelong Career: “There Is Also A Place For Me”
Sulli has found her place.
Idol-turned-actress Sulli opened up her thoughts on acting in her recent interview with women’s magazine Grazia.
According to the former f(x) member, she has come to think that acting may be the lifetime job for her. Sulli began her acting career in 2005 at the age of 11 as the young Princess Seonhwa of Silla in SBS drama Ballad of Seodong. This was later followed by minor roles in television and movies.
In 2009, the idol-turned-actress debuted as the youngest member of f(x). While in the group, she continued her acting.
Sulli was then cast as Gu Jae Hee in the drama To the Beautiful You, which is the Korean adaptation of Japanese shojo manga Hanazakari no Kimitachie. She played opposite SHINee’s Min Ho and actor Lee Hyun Woo.
After a year of hiatus, her agency SM Entertainment announced her departure from f(x), and will instead pursue an acting career. “I used to believe that I did not fit in the acting scene,” Sulli said. But now, the 23-year-old actress considers it as a lifelong job.
“Looking at people who are ‘different,’ I thought ‘I don’t fit here. They should be the celebrity instead.’ But now I think ‘Well no? There is also a place for me’.” she added.
She also said that acting allows her to gain confidence, and feels a sense of achievement and responsibility at work.
Sulli recently starred in crime action film Real with actor Kim Soo Hyun.
