BLACKPINK Achieves A Remarkable Feat For K-Pop With “Ddu-Du Ddu-Du”

BLACKPINK truly hit the world with “Ddu-Du Ddu-Du”!

BLACKPINK kept its position as the K-Pop group with most viewed music video on YouTube and created another amazing feat for K-Pop with the phenomenal hit “Ddu-Du Ddu-Du”.

The girl group’s latest MV, which was named the most watched music video in 2018, becomes the first K-Pop MV to garner more than 700 million views. Jisoo, Jennie, Lisa, and Rosé achieved the milestone only 266 days since “Ddu-Du Ddu-Du” was uploaded on June 15.

The record follows the various milestones the “Ddu-Du Ddu-Du” MV has set including being the fastest MV to surpass 100 million views. It was also the first K-Pop music video to reach 200 million views.

In addition to “Ddu-Du Ddu-Du”, other MVs of BLACKPINK have also garnered considerable amount of views. In fact, all the girl group’s music videos have surpassed 100 million views.

Its debut song “Boombayah” hails more than 523 million views, while “Whistle” boasts 333 million views. Meanwhile, “Playing with Fire”, “As If It’s Your Last”, and “Stay” record 353 million, 538 million, and 151 million views, respectively.

Jennie’s solo release “Solo” raked in more than 106 million views. Additionally, the girl group’s dance practice videos have been receiving much love on YouTube as many have surpassed the 100-million view mark.

As of press time, BLACKPINK holds the record of having the greatest number of music videos with more than 500 million views thanks to “Boombayah”, “As If It’s Your Last”, and “Ddu-Du Ddu-Du”. Currently, the girl group has 19 million subscribers on its YouTube channel.

Meanwhile, Jisoo, Jennie, Lisa, and Rosé gear up for their entry into the US music scene by signing with Interscope Records, an American record label owned by Universal Music Group.

Earlier this year, the girls made their debut on a US stage at the Grammy Artist Showcase. They also appeared on The Late Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Good Morning America, and Strahan and Sara.

In February this year, the girls appeared on the cover of Billboard magazine. They are featured in a total of five covers — one group and four individual covers.

Additionally, BLACKPINK will embark on a North American and European tour starting April until May 2019.
