“Parasite” Bags Awards From Chicago Film Critics Association

Vouched by most North American film review groups, the Chicago Film Critics Association tagged Parasite as the best movie of the year.

Bagging four awards, the South Korean dark comic film keeps soaring in the United States’ awards. Chicago’s Film Critics announced Parasite as the winner for Best Picture and Best Foreign Language Film. Bong Joon Ho achieved Best Director and the film also won the Best Original Screenplay. With critic’s coming from Atlanta, Boston, Detroit, Los Angeles, Phoenix and Washington, D.C., the South Korean film has proven its success in North America.

Similarly, earning four awards, film adaptation for the classic novel Little Women won Best Original Score and Best Costume Design. The film’s director Greta Gerwig also won for Best Adapted Screenplay as well as Florence Pugh for Best Supporting Actress.

Likewise, winning two trophies, Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon A Time In Hollywood attained Best Art Direction and Best Supporting Actor for Brad Pitt. In addition, the Best Actor award went to Adam Driver from Marriage Story, while the Best Actress award was for Lupita Nyong’o from US.

A spree of international acclaim

Depicting the lives of two extremely opposite family socioeconomic status, South Korea’s Parasite has been receiving major international film awards.

Recently, Parasite received three trophies from L.A. Film Critics Association including Best Film, Best Director for Bong Joon Ho and Best Supporting Actor for Song Kang Ho. Another three awards for Best Picture, Best Director and Best Foreign Film from Toronto Film Critics Association Awards were also clinched by this year’s Cannes Film Festival’s Palme d’Or awardee.

Subsequently, the film is also nominated at the 2020 Golden Globe Awards for Best Foreign Language Film, Best Director and Best Screenplay. Likewise, giving South Korea its first film nomination in the prestigious film awards show.

Moreover, Parasite bagged the South Korea’s first ever Palme d’Or. The highest award of this year’s Cannes Film Festival.

Piling up to its achievements, Parasite is South Korea’s entry for Best Foreign Film at the 92nd Academy Awards. Along with other categories, the final lists for the Academy Awards will be announced on January 13, 2020. With its multiple awards and nominations, lead its high hopes for Parasite taking home an Oscars Award.
